Why sign up for a Postman account

When you sign up for a free Postman account, you can:

• Sync and back up your history, collections, environments, and header presets.
• Easily work on multiple Postman instances from different machines.
• Create collection links to send to other developers.

Signing up is completely optional. Read our EULA, security page, and privacy page to learn more.

Signing up for a Postman account

If you haven’t already, download the Postman app.

Launch the app, and see a prompt to log in or sign up.

Sign up with your email address or your Google account.

Confirm your email.

Once you are logged in, you will see the IN SYNC icon at the top telling you that you are connected to our servers. Postman uses WebSockets for real-time syncing. If you are experiencing issues with syncing, you can file an issue with our support center.

Switching multiple accounts

You can sign in to multiple accounts at the same time in the Postman app and the Postman web dashboard. After you sign in, you can switch between these accounts.

How to switch accounts in the Postman app

When you first open the Postman app, you can sign in as an existing user or create an account. If you bypass the initial sign-in option, you can click the Sign In button on the top right corner of your screen at any time.

After you sign in, your profile image replaces the Sign In button.

When you click on your profile image, a drop down menu lists all active signed-in accounts.

To sign in to another account, click the Add a new account button at the bottom of the drop down menu.

To switch back to your previous account, click on the account user name in the drop down menu.

How to switch accounts in the Postman web view

When you sign in to the Dashboard, you see your profile image on the top right hand corner of the screen.

To sign in to another account, click the Add a new account button at the bottom of the drop down menu.

After you sign in to another account, the drop down menu lists all your active signed-in accounts.

To switch back to your previous account, click on the account user name in the drop down menu.

Security policies and standards

Postman uses several technologies to ensure that your data is safe and secure. For more details, visit our security page.

• Communication with Postman servers only happens through HTTPS and Secure WebSockets.
• Environment and global variables are encrypted so that only you can view them.
• You can turn off sync any time and still use Postman.

Forgot your username or password?

You can recover your username or reset your password from the Sign In page.

In the Sign In page, click “Trouble signing in?”.

In the “Trouble signing in?” page, enter your email address and click the Submit button.

Check your email for instructions to recover your username or password.

Adding your profile image

You can customize your Postman account with a profile picture that shows your username throughout the Postman dashboard.

In Postman web, click the Dashboard button, and then click the “Settings” icon. You must be signed in to see the Dashboard button.

In the left navigation sidebar, click “Profile and Account”.

In the Profile and Account page, hover over the image icon to display a Pencil (edit) icon.

Click the Pencil icon.

Upload or drag and drop the image you want for your profile from your computer and click the Upload button.

The image you selected appears as your profile image.
